Getting married in 3 days -- is it safe to get my eyebrows waxed?

Hi. My wedding is this Saturday afternoon. I was thinking of going to get my eyebrows waxed today. I've never done it before, but I don't want to have any irritation or redness on Saturday.

Do you think I would be safe if I went this afternoon? How long does it usually take for the irritation to go away?

Thanks!Getting married in 3 days -- is it safe to get my eyebrows waxed?
If you've never done it before I would go to someone that actually tweezes the brows.

I wouldn't want you to react to the wax and have a problem. I was once burned with wax getting mine done and I wouldn't chance it this close to the wedding.

If you opt for the tweezing, the irritation should be minimal.

Good luck.

Edit, Are you tan right now? This may seem silly, but if you have a tan the eyebrow waxing will expose new skin that hasn't been tanned yet. I'm sure that make up can fix it, but one more thing to think about.Getting married in 3 days -- is it safe to get my eyebrows waxed?
Yes you should be fine, unless:

1) you have unltra sensitive skin, then you want to make sure the wax isn't over heated.

2) You are on any prescriptions that thin our your skin, such as acne facial medications such as retin a-minicyclne, becuase they will cause a layer of your skin to be removed during waxing.

Also: just make sure you go to someone reliable and that will do the shpe of your eyebrows the way you want. Ask around your friends to see who they use. And if you are really worried about it, have them apply a little baby power to yur skin prior to the waxing this should help reduce redness and irritation! Good luck!
Yes, as others have commented, it takes just a short time for the redness to go away. But, since you have never had your eyebrows waxed before, I wanted to caution you on another matter. My experience. The first time I had my eb waxed, I was devastated by the outcome. I have very ';sparse'; eyebrows to begin with and I just wanted the little extra hairs above and below (almost invisible) to be removed. When I looked in the mirror, I had two, tiny, almost invisible eyebrows left and I had to use eyebrow powder to make myself look halfway normal for quite a while. Just make sure you explain to the person doing the waxing what you want. I would hate to see you unhappy on your wedding day.
You should be fine by Saturday, but if you've never had them waxed before, there's no guarantee that you won't experience a reaction from the wax. I don't think it's a good idea to do ANYTHING beauty-related that you've never done before this close to your wedding day. Can't you just tweeze them really good?
Yes. As long as you go atleast 2 days prior to the wedding you should be fine. You might want to try threading though. They can control the area of hair removal better and it is more sanitary. I did this for my wedding and it was much better than the times I got them waxed.
If you use Retinol (Retin-A) then don't do it.

Otherwise, 3 days should be enough for the redness to go away. Actually, it should be fine by tomorrow.

It shouldn't take more than a few hours for the irritation to go away but they do have creams to help soothe it.
You shold be fine. The redness and such should go away in a day, definatley before 3 days. They should have spray or something that cools down the burning and stuff, it also helps with irritation, ask them if they have something like that.
Personally, I'd say no to wax and just get them tweezed. It's too important of a day to risk irritation or break-outs around that area.

Normally the redness goes away in a day, but... what if your skin is more sensitive and it doesn't and you end up with red dots?
How sensitive is your skin? Does it normally get irritated easily? My skin is not very sensitive and it usually only takes about a full 24 hours for the irritation to go away for me.
One of my sister's friends had her eyebrows waxed for the first time and her skin was very red and irritated for a few days, she didn't even show up at gym because of it.
Yes it is safe...I would do it a day or 2 before the wedding just to be on the side of caution...This will allow the redness and irritation to go away, if you have any!
of course its safe! i get mine done everyweek....and the irritation only last like an hour or so..sometimes i dont even get red...but it doesnt last long..and totally safe as your wedding is 3 days away! Happy wedding!
I agree with the previous posters about tweezing or you can also try threading. Since it's your first time You COULD have a bad reaction to the wax - I wouldn't want to deal with that If I were you...
yes. it typically only takes a few hours for irritation to go away, and at the most, a day.
hi, if its ur first time noooo, u dnt kw whats gna happen , go to some1 who uses twezzers. congratulations on ur wedding.

I just got my eyebrows waxed. they are swelling and are real red what should i do?

Neosporin, ice, and cold cream... hand out at home for a couple hours and you'll be cood as new!.. ps try threading next time!I just got my eyebrows waxed. they are swelling and are real red what should i do?
If you have anything with aloe vera it would help..if not then the obviuos answer is ICE... but I have actually used the panama jack product called ';cool me down'; it is for really bad sunburn..it looks like hair gel..and it worked excellent. But it shouldn';t be 2 long before it goes down.I just got my eyebrows waxed. they are swelling and are real red what should i do?
Nothing, it's totally normal. Don't touch it. It'll go down within a few hours.

Can you answer this?

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>
If you have oily skin don't put lotion of any kind on. I have oily skin and this only causes bumps to pop up.

I always just let the swelling go down naturally but ice will help too.
Ice them and then put some Cortaid or Neosporin on the skin. It will take away the redness and calm the skin.
Ice perhaps? They should have put some kind of cream on afterwards if you got it done at a salon.Don't worry,it'll go away.
Put a soothing cream on, especially one containing aloe vera, this always helps me.
Just leave them,

you have just had hot wax smothered on them along with hairs and a layer of skin ripped off!
ice? it'll go down eventually.
Rub some ice cubes and relax, might help.
aloe gel
Ouch! I'd rather be a turtle than to be a girl.
ice often and afterwards a cool washcloth. itll be gone in no time
put some ponds on them
put ice one it and some lotion
go to the place u got them done and see wot they say

How does a girl know what shape to wax/pluck her eyebrows?

go have it professionally done and then when they start to grow back in follow the patternHow does a girl know what shape to wax/pluck her eyebrows?
take hair off from the inside (side by eye) to shape them, not the top. if you take it off the top, they will most likely look like they are crowding your eyes. Start with plucking, before you try waxing. go slow and stop to look at them often.

exception to this rule: if you have *extremely* thick eyebrows, then you can take Some off the top, but be very careful.

  • Does getting your eyebrows waxed hurt, or does plucking hurt more?

both hurt a little but only for a few mins and then it goes awayDoes getting your eyebrows waxed hurt, or does plucking hurt more?
Plucking hurts, but waxing is worseDoes getting your eyebrows waxed hurt, or does plucking hurt more?
Well, they both, obviously, will hurt.

Waxing can be done less, but can irritate the skin, leaving it red.

You have to do that less often. Plucking is more constant, and its easier to mess up, but, to me, it hurts less?
Waxing hurts...but it is so much faster. And the pain goes right away.
I think that plucking hurts more because it takes longer waxing is fast.
    Plucking hurts more.
um, plucking hurts more because it is pulling out one or two hairs at once...takes longer. waxing is like ripping a bandaid off of a sore on legs with hair on them....hurts for a second then goes away unless you are sensitive....

    you should try threading....LOVE IT!
I have done both and both hurt. Waxed is hurt but faster. Plucking is hurt and a lot slower to do and you need to do more than one plucking.

It all depend on what you like.
Both hurt I think waxing hurts more but it is alot faster!
plucking hurts at first, but then you get used to it. waxing is easier and takes less time. waxing hurts when the person isn't so pro.
Plucking is a pain in the butt for me, but I do it everyday. Waxing is much easier and only hurts for a moment, plus the woman at the salon will do it for u and u wont have to worry about making them uneven.
    plucking hurts more
You get better results waxing. Tweezing hurts more. YOU PLUCK A CHICKEN YOU TWEEZE YOUR EYEBROWS!
    still screaming from eyebrow wax
they both hurt to me my eyes water so bad hate it but has to be done
Actually, neither hurts for me. My eyes never water or anything and I barely feel anything. Around my eyebrow does get very red for awhile after getting them waxed though. I guess it depends on your pain tolerance. I would personally say waxing hurts more, I guess. It goes by pretty quick though..
I've had bikini waxes, leg waxes and eyebrow waxes. They don't hurt as much as they sting a little. Much better than plucking.

I've tried the waxing thing myself at home. Be careful. I let a pro do it now.
it all depends I guess. If you have a really good professional waxer they apply powder and pressure afterwards, the pressure really helps. Plucking takes much more time, however waxers pluck the ones they are afraid to wax.
to plucc hurts more than to wax plus wax is easier and cleaner

How do get wax out from my eyebrows without ripping my skin or the hairs?

I bought this Sally Hansesn do it urself waxing for ur eyebrows and it like completety got rid of my left eyebrow and i need to get it out from my right eyebrow w/o ripping off all the hair and my skin! How do get wax out from my eyebrows without ripping my skin or the hairs?
Baby oil will work. usually you can buy oils that will take the wax off so you dont rip it off. :)

Good luck not tearing your skin and hair from your eyebrow :)How do get wax out from my eyebrows without ripping my skin or the hairs?
Use a hot washrag to soak the wax till it can be peeled off. Keep appling the washrag of hot water till it is all gone.
Don't use water or soap, they will make a mess and make it worse. Saturate a cotton ball in baby oil and put it on your eyebrow, hold it there for about 5 minutes. Then saturate another one, and slowly wipe the wax off.
    water and soap
I usually use baby oil. Lotion also works and is kinda soothing. I've used rubbing alcohol before too.
Baby oil all the way i do a lot of waxing at my salon and that is what we use take a cotton ball and just rub it off with it Good luck
Put a hot wet washcloth over it and wait for awhile. Next time hun, just get it waxed at the salon. It only costs ten dollars most places. And to keep from ripping your skin off, put baby powder on your skin before you apply the wax next time.
You might try a really hot damp washcloth

Also try baby oil or olive oil

Attn Women: Is guys getting eyebrows waxed weird?

I want to get my eyebrows waxed, just to clean them up and maybe take a little bit off. Do you girls think that its weird? I'm going to do it anyway, but I just wanted more girl opinions. ThanksAttn Women: Is guys getting eyebrows waxed weird?
no, go for it, my husband gets it done when I can get him to si still long enough and it looks great. Just tell them you want a natural man look so they don't overpluck and make you look a bit gay.Attn Women: Is guys getting eyebrows waxed weird?
I don't think that it's weird and I'm not into that whole metro sexual thing. A giant uni brow that looks like a caterpillar crawling across your forehead....that's weird. :)
Waxing is not the best idea for eyebrows because it is not so precise. Try threading instead
I was in a Salon when a guy came in for eyebrow waxing. It wasn't a big deal. He didn't even Yelp much!

    I don't think it's weird.
only when he chooses but if his girlfriend makes him than yea
    its cool
It's fine, especially if they're ';bushy'; right now. A lot of men in Hollywood get it done, it's a pretty accepted thing.
No, not weird at all. Many, many men do it, not to mention all the actors, athletes, rock stars, male models.
    NO. ITS CALLED METROSEXUAL

What does ';thread your eyebrows 'mean? is that plucking them or waxing, or what? and where does that term come

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal which originated in parts of India, the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in Western countries. It is as popular with men in Arabic countries as it is with women, though they still shave the beard part of their face with a traditional safety or straight razor, doing their ears and eyebrows with thread.

Thin, twisted cotton threads are rolled over untidy hairlines, mustaches and so on, plucking the offending hair.

Practitioners use a pure cotton thread. They generally twist the hair and threading pulls out a whole row of hair, as opposed to tweezing where only one single hair is pulled out. Threading is often preferred to tweezing because of the naturally straight lines of hair removed by the thread. It is pulled out from the follicle. Some women focus particularly on the area between the eyebrows, thus interrupting so-called ';unibrows';.

Like other methods of hair removal such as plucking or waxing, threading can result in skin irritation and ingrown hairs, however, threading is more effective and less painful than tweezing; hair re-growth becomes finer and more sparse after regular treatments; and the top layers of skin are not peeled or traumatized in the process. For this reason, threading is highly recommended and an excellent option for those who use Retin-A, Accutane, and similar productsWhat does ';thread your eyebrows 'mean? is that plucking them or waxing, or what? and where does that term come
Its basically plucking them out, but they use this special string to pluck them out instead of tweezers or waxing. They say its more precise than other techniques, its very interesting to watch :D I think it originated in India. What does ';thread your eyebrows 'mean? is that plucking them or waxing, or what? and where does that term come
Yeah- using thread twisted in a special way- the result is a more precise eyebrow and it hurts about as much as waxing. Orginated in the middle east/India
actually i have heard of people plucking eyebrows with sewing thread. how the hell they do it its beyond me, but i have heard it.

I've never gotten my eyebrows waxed at a salon before .. ?

I'm 13 and I've never gotten my eyebrows professionally done before because my mom wouldn't let me . So I just plucked them at home and they turned out fine . But I'm going to get them waxed at a salon, so I have a really stupid question . What exactly happens there ? Like how do you know what your eyebrows are going to look like afterwards ? Do you show them a picture or something lol . But yeah, can someone please tell me ? No mean/stupid answers . Thanks .I've never gotten my eyebrows waxed at a salon before .. ?
Typically, we do not show pictures. Every person has a unique brow shape, and your best option is to have your own shape defined, by cleaning up excess. If you are wanting a thinner brow, or a more prominent arch, we can generally do so, but still have to consider the way your brow naturally grows. The waxing process goes like this (at least where I work):

    1. I hand you a mirror and discuss your options. Before removing any hair, I make sure we are thinking the same idea.

    2. I clean the area to make sure any oils that would prevent the wax from adhering are removed. I usually apply a small amount of baby powder to the area to reduce irritation, but many waxers differ on this.

    3. A thin layer of wax is applied, then a strip over that. The strip is smoothed down, the surrounding skin is held taut, and the strip is ripped off. (This usually stings a little, but most people find it less painful than tweezing). Each area that needs waxed is done in the same manner.

    4. A little bit of wax remover is applied to remove any stickiness, then any stray hairs are tweezed and cut to shape.

Ask your wax tech if they have any cooling gel if you feel a little irritated. If not, a cool, damp cloth held over the area will reduce stinging and redness. The whole process typically takes 10-15 minutes.

Hope this helps, and good luck!I've never gotten my eyebrows waxed at a salon before .. ?
hey, im 13 too. i dont trust anyone with my eyebrows my friends mothers got messed up by someone before. i pluck myself, so much better :)

You shouldn't need a picture. Generally they will wax to give a shape to compliment your face naturally. If you would prefer more of an arch or a thicker/thinner look, let them know and they will be able to tell you if it will suit your face.

Eyebrows can make or break a face so don't be afraid to ask. A natural look is much better than over tweezed!
they will probably just follow your natural eyebrow shape that's what they do with mine and just tidy them up a bit, or you can tell them if you'd like them thinner, shorter whatever. it doesnt hurt and is much easier than plucking :)
they shape it and let you know what they'ree gonna do. They put wax onto the places that you want hair removed and then put a cloth ontop of it. THen they pull it off. And trust me-it only hurts for a minute!
If you go to a good salon, the woman will ask you what you want and you'll describe for her what you are looking for. She will also, probably, tell you what will look good with your features. Afterwards you will probably be red or at least very pink around the area that you had waxed. If you have fair skin it will last longer and be redder, and if you have sensitive skin you might get a few little bumps the first few times until your skin gets used to it. I would suggest getting it done on a Friday when you have no plans for the weekend, so you can see how your skin will react and you have a few days. Once you know what to expect the next times will be easier.
yeah i no how u feel. The eye brow waxing ladys dont lke to listen, so u have to find a place where there gunna understand what u meen. Tell them exactly what u want, lke say, i just want them cleaned up, and dont want them too skinny. And is they ont listen, dont give them a tip!
mhm...just tell them to -clean them, and keep the same shape-{if u like the shape of them} and yeah its really quick n they turn out great

    a tip..:

dont touch them after u gettem dun ull get bumps on ur eyebrows its weird cuz ur skin might be sensitive
They just give you a general shape or they draw them on first
yea i want to get mine done too im 14 though and i i feel the same way...wen u get a best answer email it to me

    thankz
I have never had my eyebrows waxed. I have been to many salons and watched them do the waxing. The Asian salons do not show pictures. A lady puts the wax on with a popsicle stick device and then she puts the paper on and pulls. She she may do a little tweezing and then she lets people look in the mirror. I hope this helps.

Okay, so I currently pluck my eyebrows sometimes, but I want to buy the little wax strips at home and use those instead. Plucking hurts each time whereas I'd rather just get it over with. But can someone give me a website/diagram that shows you where you should wax to shape them? How do you wax your own eyebrows?
Don't every wax your own brows - they will never turn out right. I'm a makeup artist and still wouldn't wax my own brows - I will tweeze them. If you want them waxed, get them professionally done, or even threaded which gives better and more exact results. Yeah. I have really thin eyebrows, but I hate them to be messy at all. So I get them waxed every 5 weeks. And even though I only have little hairs above them, I ask them to wax that part too. they sell this thing that kind of shaves the hair off.
a razor that you shave with normally.
Threading (ask when you go the salon or call around and see who does that before going), if you want to do it yourself then try with a razor. NOT one you shave your legs with, these are eyebrow razors. They're the length of a pencil and the razor is maybe 2 inches wide. You can find them at any drugstore, walmart, target, etc, near the eyelash curlers, brushes, nail clippers, etc. They're about $5 for a pack of 3. When you use them, go in the opposite direction to prevent ingrown hairs.

They don't hurt, they're cheap, and one usually lasts me a couple weeks if I use it regularly to keep my eyebrows nice and clean. you can also use them for upper-lips.

Is it okay to go tanning and then get your eyebrows waxed?

I dont think its a good idea, the reasons ares:

    1) You'll tan and then if you remove some of your eyebrows you'll probably have spots without tanning (it depends on how much you'll wax and tan, but still)

    2) The second and most important is that after tanning, your skin will be mores ensible than normal..which means you dont wanna suffer adding it hot wax and then tearing your eyebrows...

My suggestion: Wait two days more or less after tanning, or do it before (two days as well ) so your skin can recover a lettle bit.Is it okay to go tanning and then get your eyebrows waxed?

  • I would like to get a woman's opinion as to whether I should wax part of my eyebrows?

I'm Italian and have very thick eyebrows. I have an issue with a ';unibrow';. I have been using tweezers to take care of it for awhile, but now the middle part is uneven and hairs are growing out in crazy directions. I feel like if I keep doing what I've been doing its gonna get worse, but I'm also afraid that if I go and get it professionally waxed I'll become dependent on it and it may get worse. I would like a woman's feedback about there feelings about a guy who waxes them and whether I should keep it the way it is or not. Its not ridiculously bad, but bad enough to where I'm self concious about it.I would like to get a woman's opinion as to whether I should wax part of my eyebrows?
I would say that you should have it done. Don't get the woman pencil line one though. There is nothing wrong with a little maintenance. After they have shaped them for you, it should be easy for you to maintain with tweezers.I would like to get a woman's opinion as to whether I should wax part of my eyebrows?
Waxing shouldn't change the way your hair grows other than to slow it for a few weeks, and it's usually a good idea for out-of-control brows. I wish more men would do it. Just make sure you tell the stylist that you want a ';natural, masculine'; look so she doesn't overwax you all metrosexual. You'll probably get addicted to it, but so what if you do? $7 every three weeks is well worth it to look better.
i would say it's a nice aspiration as long as you keep them natural looking. i will warn you that some people will think it is a 'gay' thing to do - i have a male friend who used to do it and he got mixed reactions, but his eyebrows certainly looked great and very attractive. i think it's your business and you should do it if you want to. keep in mind that you will have to keep it up or at least pluck it yourself during the times that you don't go.
    go for it
There are plenty of guys who get their eyebrows waxed at the salon I work at. It isn't expensive and last allot longer than tweezing. No matter what you do the hair will grow back (unless you have it perm. removed w/ laser or electrolysis) so don't worry about the dependent part. Guys look so much better when they are well groomed. There is only a few things a guy can do to look better unlike a woman with all our makeup and tools. SO I say a guy should do everything they can. Keep their hair looking it's best which includes their eyebrows. You can always try it once ...if you don't like it you can go back to tweezing. I may warn you ..the first time you have it done it will sting a little but your Italian you can handle it.
Yes, wax it. unibrows are not attractive.
Sure, get it waxed, nothing to be embarrassed about, and it's a lot more convenient than tweezing. You also might consider laser hair removal in that area.
    wax
i say go for it either way u will still need to keep up removing it and if u wax it , it last longer hair takes more to grow back so u will waste less time on ur unibrow but never ever wax any other part of ur brows just the unibrow u don't want to look like a pretty boy do u?
If it makes YOU feel better , why not :]
    get it waxed
wax...u'll be happier, ur friends will be happier.
i think you should get it done by a good professonal because if it's one step wrong you are doomed. anywayz wish u new cool eyebrows :D
If it make you feel more self confident then yes, i think you should go for it. But only do it if it will make YOU feel better.
    yes wax it
Yes, if you want to, go for it!
It all depends on how you feel about it. Obviously you're not happy with you eyebrows. Many women won't say anything to a guy about things like that. You're a guy...guys have bushy eyebrows and hair on their chest... there is nothing we women can do about that. If you really don't like having to tweeze them then definitely go to a decent salon and ask them to wax so it still looks natural, but clean. Its a lot easier to wax seeing that you can wait several weeks before having to go back to have it done again...and in between you'll only have to tweeze obnoxious hairs that grow back real noticeable.
I think you should do it, what do you have to lose? It won't make you depend on it more, but you might even learn how to wax it yourself.
I say wax the unibrow part. Other than that, leave them alone. If you must groom the rest of your brows, skip waxing and just pluck the really wild hairs. Because you are a guy, you don't want to have that overdone, girly look. Pluck only a couple of hairs at a time, step back in the mirror and look between each pluck. This will prevent any fiascos.

As for getting dependent, don't worry about that. If anything, the hair will grow back finer and sparser. That is because regular waxing damages the hair follicles, so they don't work as well, and that's good.
My husband is part Italian and he gets his waxed I think guys eyebrows look way better waxed

Does getting your eyebrows waxed hurt?

im about to get mine done, and im a little nervousDoes getting your eyebrows waxed hurt?
no! i actually find it relaxing! much much better than tweezing!Does getting your eyebrows waxed hurt?
I'm not gonna lie, it hurts, but not as bad as you probably think it will. It will hurt for about a minute after and then go away and leave it puffy and red for a while after. After you get it done, try putting ice or a soothing cream on it to reduce pain and swelling. It's worth it though for the nice eyebrows you will have after!
not to scare you but it will. geting anything waxed will hurt... but the worst is over in like 10 seconds what i do is when the person puts the cloth thing to wax it i take a deep breath in and then when whe rips it of i slowly breath out. since i am assuming this is your first time so they might have to pluck alot so be prepared for that too. Jeez, the things us girls go through for beauty... it is worth it though
No they put the hot wax on you which is relaxing then a strip and pull it off really fast. there a sting of 10 seconds. i just got my eyebrows done like yesterday for the first time. just let them know it is your first time and it will be fine. And they are red for one day the most! Plucking your eyebrows are 12x worse!!

    Good luck

    and hope u look cute
I just got mine done for the first time today and I'm 15. It stung a little but wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It stings a bit and it throbs for a few minutes after but after it's all done if done correctly it looks amazing!
    It doesn't hurt.

It kinda makes my eyes water and leaves my skin feeling hot and a little red but you can put aloe vera gel on them. If you're scared you can tell the person to tell you when they're going to pull the wax off.

    good luck :)
    Eh only a bit

The worst part for me is the minty lotion she puts on after.

Just dont get it done at one of those cheap bootay nail places.

so yeah just a sharp quick pain.

    Breath.

Youll feel like an idiot when your expecting the worst.
k this isn't a 1st hand experience answer but my sis got them done and she said plucking them herts a lot more since ur doing in all at once she said waxing doesn't rele hert but plucking is one by one so it takes longer and herts more

    i hope this helps!!!
My sister does it all the time, she says it stings a little, but I guess that's because she's used to it.

I know that it leaves the places they wax really red for a while
it just sting a little, but it doesn't hurt at all, it'll be fast and, and the sting be gone before you know it!
No, it is not painful. It's the ripping it off that scares you. It doesn't actually hurt.
NO, some people exaggerate about the pain but it doesnt hurt its only a pain for like 15 seconds and its gone...
    somewhat at first.
Not much, it's barely any pain at all...
    just a litttle

Usually you dont really choose an eyebrow shape for yourself, the beauty therapist will look at your natural shape, texture, colour, thickness, and your facial features and will base your eyebrows on whatever looks best with all those factors =]

If you would like to try out shapes for your eyebrows before you go, take a white eyeliner or normal concealer and colour over the hairs you would like to remove, this is good because you can see for yourself what you like. Remember though that you should always follow your natural arch, if you change your arch it will look awkward with your features...

    Good luck =]
yeah, she does have nice eyebrows!

My advice to you, though, is to just start out small, cuz if u hate it it will take a while to grow back, and remember, plucking in a life-long habit, so once you start, theres no going back!

Also, trying playing up the natural shape of YOUR eyebrow, instead of trying to make it like someone elses!

Hope I helped, and good luck!

    Pick a best answer??
The way they are shaped depends on your face and how thick/long your eyebrows are. It's important to make sure that the person you are going to has experience. It's even better if you've seen their work. I've seen a lot of eb's messed up, too thin, too far apart in the middle, etc.
The best thing for you to do is let the girl know that its your first time and you would like her opinion.. The first time I had mine done that is exactly what I did.

I got my eyebrows waxed today, and i have two red bumps that sting?

i got them done, where i always get them done, and i never have problems with my skin afterwards....so about an hour ago, i was feeling my eyebrow, and while i felt it, it stung and is a little puffyI got my eyebrows waxed today, and i have two red bumps that sting?
If you think you may have been burned, clean area gently with cold water, put some ice in sandwich bags, wrap in hand cloths, and lay down with them on your brows. After 30 minutes apply a clean burn ointment.I got my eyebrows waxed today, and i have two red bumps that sting?
I put baby oil on mine, because the same thing happens to me.
Its helps to sooth with witch hazel. I use it when I get my eyebrows and mustache waxed and the redness and irritation almost immediately go away
Not really a problem. Your skin reacts differently everytime, the bumps and pain should go away soon (:

I had my eyebrows waxed, and I have broken out. Any remedies for it?

    Helloooo

My boyfriend gets his eyebrows waxed (LOL, I know)... and he breaks out everytime...

We finally found something that works. If you rub some Neutrogena ';On the Spot'; cream on the bumpy areas before you go to sleep... you will normally wake up clear! It's the only thing that's worked for him so far. This cream is also good for treating stubborn pimples so it won't go to waste!!

I hope this works for you!!I had my eyebrows waxed, and I have broken out. Any remedies for it?
I break-out everytime I get mine done (once a month). I used to put Hydrocortisine cream on them 3x's a day until it went away completely and take a benedryl. I found on myself that just asking the lady to not wax above my eyebrows has helped a lot. It will still break-out some, but not as badly. However, that worked for me and may not work for you. Hope this helps some!I had my eyebrows waxed, and I have broken out. Any remedies for it?
Make sure the waxing utensils that are used on your eyebrows have been properly sanitized. I used to get that a lot too until I demanded that the technician use a new ';stick'; (I don't know the proper terminology) on my eyebrows. And I started making sure the area around the ';pot'; they get the wax out of was clean. If it looks like there is a lot of dried wax and stuff around the sides, walk out and go somewhere else.

If you have sensitive skin and still happen to break out, just put peroxide or alcohol on the eyebrows with a cotton ball (not a lot). This just kills the germs and the break out should clear up.
Yeah actually, anytime after you wax or remove hair in a painful way and you want to avoid it breaking out, in the palm of your hand just mix some salt and water and apply it to the burning places.
i used to break out too when i got my eyebrows waxed. then i realized they were using some type of oil on my eyebrows afterwards and now i just tell them no oil just the alchohol. it kind of burns for like a second but in the long run it is worth it.

I have bells palsy. Can i still get my eyebrows waxed?

I was diagnosed will Bells Palsy about 3-4 day ago. I was on my way to get my eyebrows waxed yesterday when I realized if i should even get them done.. i even asked the lady who does the eyebrow waxing but she said i should go ask someone because she wasn't sure about it.I have bells palsy. Can i still get my eyebrows waxed?
Do not get your eyebrows waxed

With Bells Palsy, your face will of course appear uneven. The mouth droops, the eyes, and of course the eyebrows. If you get them waxed now, while you have it, when your face starts to wake up from Bells Palsy they will not be even.

Thought I would pass along what I learned from my Bells Palsy episode.I have bells palsy. Can i still get my eyebrows waxed?
Getting your eyebrows waxed won't cause a problem. It's just that, depending on which side of your face is affected, you may not be able to feel anything, while your having the waxing done. Just ask the lady to be very gently.

One of the factors in Bells Palsey is a deficiency in vitamin B12 and B6. Here's a link a good B-Complex formula:

  • Eyebrows waxed at the nail salon?

does anyone get your eyebrows waxed at the nail salon? i always do and they come out really goood... but do they even sanitize the tweezers afterwards?Eyebrows waxed at the nail salon?
we used to have a family ownd nail salon and i know we did.

next time your getting your wax done, look for a sanitizing machine.. like the bright blue light lil ovens... they usually clean them off and put them in there for the heat/light to kill off the germs. look to see where she grabs them from or what she does with it once your all done.

when i get mine done, they usually take the tweezers with them while checkin you out. so they can put in the sanitizer boxEyebrows waxed at the nail salon?
I've done it and been pleased with the results. Salons should be inspected yearly at the state level, and those health inspections should catch things like not sanitizing tweezers. Many inspection departments are tiny, however, and a salon may go as long as six years between inspections.

For this reason, when you go to the salon, you have to either (1) accept the risk you're taking (be aware that you may be being tweezed by tweezers that haven't seen a disinfectant since they came out of the box) or (2) talk to your beauticians--ask them how often they disinfect and how they do it.
I have had them done at different nail salons and I see them put the tweezers in barbacide.

I cant say for sure that everyone does it, I am sure there are some that dont, but I bet most places would. Its against the health regulations for them not to.
I get mine waxed at a nail salon and they come out good too. Im not sure about the sanitizing part.
Yes!! I love it!!! Cheaper than going to the spa where I get my hair done.
yep its awesome they always do a great job. lets hope they do sanitize them or thats kind of gross LOL
erm i thought if they waxed them the tweezers werent needed?
    I do .. Omg , it's a really good question !!!

I'm a male with thick eyebrows, I get them waxed ocassionaly and have to trim the hair with a beard trimmer

im looking for a more effective way, it seems as if they just keep getting thicker. i usually only get the bottom part of my eyebrow waxed but the top of them get too tall sometimes and i have to get it waxed too. i just hate how red i am afterword and am looking for better solutions for this problem. any ideas?I'm a male with thick eyebrows, I get them waxed ocassionaly and have to trim the hair with a beard trimmer
try and find a permanent hair removal clinic usually done with lazers, they usually take a few sessions but work miraclesI'm a male with thick eyebrows, I get them waxed ocassionaly and have to trim the hair with a beard trimmer
Let'em grow, that's what I do. Be a man and be proud of it.
If you are tired of having to be red and are tired of waxing and shaving, then I suggest to let your eyebrows grow how they grow. Then don't do anything about it. No waxing, no shaving, no worrying. Guys look good with their hairiness, anyway in my opinion.

I used to get mine waxed and then I used to pluck them to keep them in order. Now I don't do anything to them. I just let them grow how they grow. I don't think they look so bad. And I'm a girl, too. Now I don't have to worry about plucking. Saves time, too.
Don't bother with the waxing, its a waste of money and it's pointless. Pluck your eyebrows when they get out of order, and then you can also use an eyebrow comb and trim the hairs with scissors.
Male eyebrows do tend to get thicker as you get older - they seem to want to become caterpillars!

1] Since you already had them shaped by waxing, you could pluck stray hairs after showering or bathing [ hurts less with pores open ].

Then use toner to close the pores.

2] Buy a mustache comb, and brush all hairs straight up on forehead.

Trim the hairs that grow outside the brow area - [ don't pluck them, you will have an empty spot in your brows! ]

So i just got my eyebrows waxed and i'm so red, what kind i do to calm my skin that i have at home?

Aloe Vera or ice. If you just want the redness gone dab a little concealer over it. If you get your eyebrows waxed a lot i really suggest aloe vera, it helps with the worst sunburn. you can get it at walmart or target and it's blue (well at least mine is).

Hope this helps! So i just got my eyebrows waxed and i'm so red, what kind i do to calm my skin that i have at home?
A cool compress will reduce the swelling, try using the cool back of a spoon. Also, blue toothpaste, if you have it, can reduce the redness. I'm not kidding. So i just got my eyebrows waxed and i'm so red, what kind i do to calm my skin that i have at home?
Get an ice cube, and wrap a napkin around it or put it in a bag. Hold is tightly over your eyebrow for about 10 mintues, then do the same with the other one.
Aloe Vera? Moisturise with no additives, such as E45 or anything from the ';Simple'; range won't irritate the skin, as well :)

It'll probably be much better in the morning if you leave it alone :)
DONT GET THEM WAXED..USE TWEEZERS AND PLUCK YOURSELF..NO IRRITATIONS..except at the moment of the pluck! :)
    Try baby oil!

    Waxing or threading your eyebrows?

i have a bunch of stray eyebrow hairs. i have waxed before, but i think i want to try threading. if you have threaded before, does it hurt? do the hairs grow immediately back? or is waxing my safest bet? thank you so much! :)Waxing or threading your eyebrows?
I worked with a girl once that had her eyebrows threaded, she said it didn't hurt much. They looked great and it seemed to last a while. Waxing or threading your eyebrows?
My cousin got it done[threading] in the mall and she's 16, and she's a wimp.. so it obviously didnt hurt lol. But then my aunt did it, and she said it only hurt a little, but she's sticking with threading cuz it's fast and it doesn't hurt much. WELL, hope that helped.!! :D

They WAXED HALF my eyebrow off :'(?

I went to get my eyebrows waxed at a salon. i usually always do my onw and they are perfect but for some reason ( now realise was stupid) i went to a salon. She did the left one very thin but i can live with that but the right one she waxed off half!!! I have been crying since and i am worried sick they wont grow back. They always do when i wax then but i'm just sick with worry! Will they grow back?! Please help and no mean answers please. :'(They WAXED HALF my eyebrow off :'(?
There is hope! I had a similiar thing happen once, and they grew back--seemed like it took forever. Do this and it will help some--go to walmart or a drugstore and look in the Maybelline section. You should be able to find light or dark brown or black eyebrow powder with a tiny little eyebrow brush--it looks real natural when you apply it lightly at first and build on it! Trust me on this one--they will grow back--and they probably look worse to you than anyone else. Are you sure this woman didn't work in a saloon instead of a salon???????????? Good luck! They WAXED HALF my eyebrow off :'(?
LOL they'll grow back. Your eyebrow hair grows back just as fast as you pluck them out, so it might be up to 4 weeks.

As for the salon, that was quite stupid and unprofessional for them to make a mistake like that. Going to a salon can save you time compared to doing it yourself, so the choice to go to a salon wasn't stupid. However, you should definitely try another salon next time.

For now just pencil in your eyebrows to cover it up (or style your hair to form a fringe). You will probably (and by probably I mean most definitely) experience some redness, itchiness and perhaps ingrown hairs in that area so you might want to get some lotion or creme designed to reduce those problems.
They WILL grow back. I had mine done a 3 or 4 weeks ago and now they are growing like crazy i can't keep on top of them!

If your really concious of it, you can always try drawing it on but i suggest that you use a good brow pencil or kit. and if you dont know how to do it well have a look on youtube, i always find great tutorials on there :)

Don't worry yourself, they will grow back :)
They will grow back, but they may not grow back entirely. This happened to me once, and now my right brow has a bald spot I have to fill in every day.

Don't cry, though. Just get a brow pencil in the right color and draw it in. If you want, you can also get a matte eyeshadow in the same color and use a spoolie brush (just clean an old mascara wand) to make it look like you have ';little hairs';.
they will grow back don't worry, it just might take some time

it depends really if you hair grows fast then i suspect your eyebrows should be the same. if its really bothering you

just yous a eye pencil that has the closest to you eyebrow colour to fill it in.
Sorry that that happened to you. They will grow back. For now you will have to fill them in. When you go to a salon you expect the person working on you to be a professional!! Unfortunately that is not always the case. I would suggest if you do go to a salon next time you get a reccomendation from a friend!
    dont worry, they'll grow back

for the mean time, either get a side fringe and cover the eyebrow that they waxed half off or

get a full fringe to cover it all

i wouldnt recommend an eyebrow pencil because most of the time you can tell your wearing it

    good luck!
Ofcourse they will grow back. In the meantime, use a black pencil and lightly fill it in like pencil it in to look like hair (don't fill in, just ilttle strokes) it will look better atleast than not having anything at all.
Of course they will grow back. That happened to me once I was so pissed I looked funny. So i got an eyeliner that was the same color as my brow and I just filled it in. It works pretty good. Better then having ahlf a brow.
well, it is still summer, so don't worry about it, when you go bakc to school it will be fine and grow back in. Don't swet it
umm yea i wld cry 2 .bt yea they will grow back just get a pencil and try 2 draw them all u can do is Hope they grow back quickly and if they did that 2 me i wld switch i diff salon.
im sorry wat happened but fr now u could get a brow definer and fill in the empty space and dont worry ur eyebrows grow bac quickly.
that stuff happenes all the time trust me haha. but for now use eyebrow clear mascara, and an eyebrown pencil, your best bet is to use urban decay products.
Sure hope you went off at the salon people and don't go back there again
Just chill our get a eyebrow pencil if it bothers you that much...why wouldn't it grow back%26gt;?
wow i would totally be pissed off!

of course they will grow back but for now use a pencil :)
aw haha, yeah they'll grow back.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad does it hurt to get your eyebrows waxed?

Okay I am thinking about getting my eyebrows waxed. It would be the first time. and my brows are pretty hairy

so if i were to say that 1 is like getting poked with a stick and 10 is getting your arm amputated without any medicine to keep you from feeling it were would you put getting your eyebrows waxed for the first time? oh and i would say getting your finger pricked to take blood is a 3.On a scale of 1-10 how bad does it hurt to get your eyebrows waxed?
I had mine done for the first time about a month ago. I'm really sensitive to pain. Quite honestly, I'm a wuss... and I would give it a 2. I actually found it almost relaxing, and I was bracing for the worst. They were done before I even knew it. I thought it was going to feel like ripping a band-aid off, but, nope, it sort of feels like it does when you push your eyebrows backwards (against the growth). Stubbing your toe is 100 times more painful. Nothing to it, really. On a scale of 1-10 how bad does it hurt to get your eyebrows waxed?
I would say it is about a 3-4.

But it only hurts for a couple of seconds. And it starts to turn red, so make sure they put some kind of cooling lotion or something on it so it doesnt turn too red.

A wax is actually a good thing to get because my eye brows don't need tweezing/waxing for about a month after, which is kinda handy.

When you get it waxed they usually do the middle, and under the brow...

It hurts more under the brow than in the middle. So just beware of that..

    :]

its not that bad at allll!

i get mine done all the time.

the first time is the worst, but still it only stings for a sec once they rip it, after that its completely fine!

If you think getting a finger prick is a 3, then id say this is a 2.

trust me, its not as bad as it seems.
I just got mine waxed and it was about a 3..maybe 4? It didn't really hurt at all! Except certain parts near the eye lid, that might sting a bit, but it goes away fast. And it's worth it. Actually lasts 3 weeks.

    Good luck :)
It's not that bad it just hurts for like a second after they rip of the wax but the people put cream on it to stop the pain. I say a 3 or less. And it totally makes you look nicer than big thick eyebrows. lol.
it doesnt hurt! im13 and ive been getting my eyebrows waxed for a lil over a yr now. deffinantly worth it! the 1st time it kinda hurts but then u get used 2 it.and it doesnt hurt at all!
Do you tolerate pain well? For my first time it was like a 3, but now that i am use to it its like a 2. Trust me its over fast. :] You'll be fine!
yeah maybe like a 6 or 7 it hurts pretty bad for a minute or 2 and your eyes water but it's TOTALLY worth it. eyebrows can make or break a face
2, really not bad at all, and its worth anypain at all, cause they will look alot better... make sure you tell them not to do it to thin!
A 2 the first few times, and 0 once you get used to it.
3 at the very most it doesnt hurt that much its just a little sting
    no pain no gain.....

if you are really hairy it may hurt more but it becomes less painful over time!
i would say a 2.9 it only hurts for like a second and then it goes away and it feels smooth
2, lol, its painless...well, actaully depends on what place you go to and how good your person is
    1
first time it was like a 4 but now i get them done every 2 weeks and it's a 1

depends how much you get taken off. but it doesn;t hurt vey bad, probably like 2.5
it hurts less than getting your finger pricked so lets go with a 1...
Now i would say 0 but the first time about a 2. I can't even feel it anymore.
definately a five. Still easier than plucking because soemone else does it. Its hard to make your self hurt yourself!
    2 not at all
2 its a small sting it goes away quickly

    2
    45
    10
    2
It just hurts for a few second when they're taking it out.

    So, I would say like a 3-4
2, maybe. it doesnt hurt very much.
its a quick sting your first time.
Maybe a two...it is really not a big deal.
its no problem its more shocking than painful i rate it a 3 you'll be fine :)

  • If you get your eyebrows waxed do they grow back bushier?

It does grow in finer, however, you have to maintain them by plucking them in between waxings. You could probably go every 3 - 4 weeks as long as you were plucking the bigger ones as they grow in.If you get your eyebrows waxed do they grow back bushier?
    Hi,

The hairs grow back softer and more tapered. The only problem with waxing is they have to grow quite long before they can be done again. If you get your eyebrows waxed do they grow back bushier?
it does but continue plucking it anyway
no over time the hair will become thinner as some of the hair germ cells are destroyed.
No, but waxing also takes of all the vellus hair (really fine hair you get all over your face and body) which makes your eyeshadow go on a lot better.
well not really.......depend who does them and how they do them
I am happy to tell you no they don鈥檛 because you wax them you are pulling them out from the root which means they will grow back but the hairs will be finer and the while hair growing back thicker is a myth. The older you get the thicker your hair gets in your body from puberty so trimming them wont affect the thickness either. Hope this helps. Thanks

Whats better? waxing or plucking your eyebrows when finding your shape?

I'm about to lay a lot on you. It depends on preference. Some people would rather wax since it lasts longer. Some people (like myself) don't mind the maintenance plus I cant afford waxing it all the time since I am a stay at home momma. Some girls make the mistake of thinking the goal is to reshape the entire brow when really you should just be tweezing to enhance and accentuate their natural curve.

    This is what I do

1- prep: use white eyeliner pencil %26amp; hold it against the side of your nose. So then use the pencil to mark the spot where the tip of it meets your brows, then tilt it diagonally so the tip rests on the outer corner of your eye %26amp; mark that spot (these are the start %26amp; end points for the length of the brow)

2- outline your brow: on the bottom edge of the brow, use the pencil to mark the highest point of your arch which should fall above the outside edge of the iris. Then you connect the dots you have marked so far in a curve that mimics the way your eyebrow naturally arches on top. Go over the curve until its about eighth of an inch thick.

3- Pluck: tweeze the hairs that fall outside the white border starting at the inner edge working your way out to the tail. i suggest you change eyes after every 3 or 4 plucks to make sure they stay even and symmetrical. When your finished just wash off the liner and check brows to see if you need to touch up any uneven spots

Only pluck once a week when it becomes obvious. once you get the general shape, the less you alter them, the better they will look trust me.

4- (optional of course) use brow pencil and powder to fill in any gaps in your brow. Make sure to use short light strokes with a pencil starting at the inner edge of the top of brow. Apply powder with an angled brush then run a spooley brush through them to distribute the powder evenly. Its important to blend so you dont have a harsh affect, then use wax to help them stay in place. Smashbox has a great powder/wax combo you can order at Sephora. I'm sure you think im nuts for typing all of this but eyebrows are soooo important. A lot of women dont understand! They can make you look 10 years younger if they frame your face right (for older women) make your eyes look bigger and you face seem slimmer. They frame the face and to abuse them is a travesty. Please never ever shave them. Eventually they will not grow back and as we age the eyebrows become thinner so imagine having to draw them on, it isn't very attractive. Hope I helped GO EAGLESWhats better? waxing or plucking your eyebrows when finding your shape?
Do you mean to get the shape of your eyebrows? If so, you can't go wrong with either one. But if you pluck, you have the risk of over plucking as opposed to having a professional gage the arch and then going over them again to make sure it's the cleanest possible. But, if you have large pores and tend to break out easily, do not wax. I have large pores and when they use hot wax, I spend the next week popping pimples filled with wax (sorry, but you have to consider these things). Threading is also a good choice as it has minimal pain and no wax involved.Whats better? waxing or plucking your eyebrows when finding your shape?
i would go to a salon and have your eyebrows waxed. tell the person doing it you want them shaped. they'll find what looks good on you and you'll have a nice arch :] then, you can tweeze / pluck your eyebrows as the hair starts to grow back to keep the shape in

i wouldn't recommend waxing / plucking them yourself for shape though, because if you mess up, they'll look really bad, and it's easy to mess up your first time

    %26lt;3
plucking because if you its harder to make a mistake.also it dosent hurt as much coz yur taking out one hair at a time with waxing you take out a whole lota hairs at a time. easy to make a mistake.
waxing looks better but can cause damage to the skin and sagging when your older. Plucking is better for you but hurts like crazyyyyy
u can try having them threaded at an Idian threading shop. They shape the thread some way with their hands and use it like sissors to cut it
get them threaded!! its hurts a bit more but for some reason its so detailed and precise, its really the best way to go ;)
Neither. Go get threaded. It doesn't hurt as much and it's easier to shape.
plucking, your less likely to rip off a whole chunk

When u get ur eyebrows waxed does it normally stay red for awhile????

I had mine waxed and their red because it pulled off the skin!!! Will it ever grow back it looks really bad!!When u get ur eyebrows waxed does it normally stay red for awhile????
If you had skin pulled off while your eyebrows were being waxed something has gone horribly wrong and you should see a dr. immediately!

A little redness afterwards is normal and will go away. However losing skin is not normal. When u get ur eyebrows waxed does it normally stay red for awhile????
The redness stays for about 24 hours. It's also a little puffy. I've never had my skin pulled off while being waxed. That sounds scary! Maybe yours will take a little longer to heal with that being said....

Your eyebrows will grow back, so if they overwaxed, don't stress. It will be ok!
If they pulled off skin don't go back to that place... The redness will fade in about and hour. I always get mine waxed at night when I don't have plans so they will have all night to ease up before anyone sees them.

The skin will grow back. It's happened to me plenty of times.
Of course it will. You should go to a different salon next time, the one you went to had the temperature too high.

If you make a cup of chamomile tea with two tea bags, you can either use the tea directly on the red spots, or place the cooled tea bags on the reddened areas to soothe them.
    lol.

pulled off the skin.. does not sound like that's supposed to happen.

    %26lt;3
Staying red for awhile is normal, but I never heard of anyone losing SKIN?? I would go to the doctor asap!

I just got my eyebrows wax for the first time, but now my lids are all red is this common?

My eyelids are red and it burns to the touch, is this a common thing and if it is, how long till i know the pain and redness will go away??I just got my eyebrows wax for the first time, but now my lids are all red is this common?
Hehe yes it is common, but it does go away. If its your first time, your bodys just not use to having hair torn out of the tissue. But I promise, it stops that after about the 4-5th time. If I were you, I would pluck them while you wait for your next waxing. It helps the pain, and the redness =)

Also, use a coco butter lotion on your eyes, It helps with the red! I promise! lolI just got my eyebrows wax for the first time, but now my lids are all red is this common?
ya this is common. for me this goes away by the end of the day. aloe vera (put it in the fridge to chill it) and ice helps.
Well, sometimes it's normal. If ir hurts too much and very red I don't think it's normal. And you should talk to a specailist. But if it's just a little than I would say it's normal. If it hurts for more than 2 or 3 days, it's not normal.
it's totally normal i mean like it might take a few hours to cool down but try to not touch them because it will take longer if you irritate them
That happened to my sister when she got hers waxed and it will go away after a couple days....I think it was because the wax was too hot or your just not used to it... Good luck!!
yes it is very common for people who dont get their eyebrows waxed often. Redness is only temporary and the more you wax your eyebrows the less reddness will occur
it is normal. but also not to scare you, but one time my friend got hers waxed and the lady burned her. but the first time always hurts for a while and redness all over.
that happened to me 2 the first time i got them done and i think it is normal. for me the pain went away by the next day, so it should go away soon
Mmmmm, I'm sorry to say that this isn't common. I get my eyebrows waxed at the Anatasia counter at Nordstrom and it's great. It doesn't hurt at all (just a bit tingley) and I dont have any redness or irritation afterwards. I'm guessing that your skin got red becuase you were either alergic to the wax, your skin is sensitive, or that the place you went to have them waxed, wasn't too clean. Make sure to go somewhere that can be trusted...ask your friends and family. I wouldnt go to the same place anymore though.

    Good Luck! :o)
redness and burning is common for the first time being waxed and the pain should go away in about a week
yes it doesnt happen to everyone but to some people it does, its nothing strange. dont worry :D
PUT ICE ON THE RED AREA FOR A LITTLE BIT
its common for this to happen when you wax or pluck your eyebrows. but don't worry, it shouldnt last too long. it may happen whenever you wax or pluck your eyebrows, but you'll get used to it and it won't hurt as much. :)
yes it will take a few hours to a day to go away depending on how sensitvive ur skin is
That ALWAYS happens when I get mine waxed. I have very sensitive skin. The gay guy at the salon told me not to worry, because it happened to him too...that guy was sweet!

Anyway, it shouldn't last more than a few hours at the most.

Mine goes away after about an hour.

Usually they put lotion on my eyebrows and the skin to help cool down the pain and redness.

If they didn't do this to you, ask next time! It helps and feels AMAZING.
there is usually redness and it will hurt since it was your first time. give it a few hours it will go away.
yeah it usually tends to get red and ur skin gets irritated the first time u wax ur eyebrows so dont tripp it'll be a couple of hours till the redness goes away.oh and if you ever feel lyk the wax is way too hot tell them to cool it off a lil so they dont burn you cuz that hurts!
that never happened to me b4 but it did to my friend, so don't worry! some poeple like u have more sensitive skin. it should go away after a 1 or two or a week depending on how sensitive ur skin is..:)
it is common for it to be red for about 24hours but if by the next day it is even more red hn sme skin came off too...when that happened to me the first time i got a huge ugly scab for like a weeek...ill never wax my eyebrows again. but at least i could cover it up with hair

How can I quickly get rid of this redness? I waxed my eyebrows for the first time.?

Leave it, it will go away...

And it shouldn't take long, unless your skin is very sensitive... just a few hours or so.How can I quickly get rid of this redness? I waxed my eyebrows for the first time.?
white toothpaste (leave on for 5-10 min),or bongella babies gum gel dab and leave for 3-4 min,or cold flannel hold until hotness goes awayHow can I quickly get rid of this redness? I waxed my eyebrows for the first time.?
Use something with aloe in it. It helps the redness go away quicker.
Use eye drops that take the red out of eyes,

    it works every time!

It removes the red just like from eyes,

and it works great for removing the redness from zits/pimples too !
use a gel mask over your eyebrows a calming mask will do exactly that calm the redness
lightly press an ice cube on the area for a quick fix.

When you go to get your eyebrows waxed...

Do you need to make sure they're at least a bit cleaned up first?

I've been a lazy little rascal, so my eyebrows look absolutely horrible. I want to get them waxed so that they have shape and look a bit more feminine. So should I clean up the strays before I go, or what? When you go to get your eyebrows waxed...
No, don't worry about this. The person who waxes you will take care of it, and it's better to leave the with an empty canvas to work with! (Ans it's kinda redundant..like cleaning the house before the maid arrives :P )

Good luck! When you go to get your eyebrows waxed...
They do EVERYTHING. Trust me, the ultimate pampering. Usually they'll wax first, then go back over the job with the tweezers *just* for those pesky few hairs that are outta line! Its relatively inexpensive ($7-$13 max at nicer salons generally) and you can either ';follow'; the brow shape that they create so you don't need to wax again---or---you can wait usually 2-3 weeks before you need a touch up if you want to head back to a profession :)
WHAT?! you are paying someone to get them fixed. DO NOT touch your eyebrows because who knows you can ruin them or overpluck and destory them. If they are really bushy it gives the waxer more to work with and more hair to create shape. ONCE AGAIN. do NOT touch them especially if your willing to get them done. Leave it all to the pros.
If i try to pluck my own eyebrows, i end up sneezing like crazy! So I sometimes go into the salon with fuzzy catapillars on my forehead. I just give them the chuckling ';yeah it's been a while..I've just been so busy'; line and they rip 'em right off without a second thought.

I wouldn't worry about cleaning them up. With most waxings costing 9-14 dollars, they should rip out more hair! LOL
    girl.

    we are the same.

i am lazy and let them get bushy as ever.

no you don't have to do anything to them.

they will fix them for you.

    wherever you go.

at least make sure your face is clean tho.

    haha

    %26lt;3
Not at all. They do all the work. The first time I got mine done was the first time I had anything done to my eyebrows, back when I was 12. They looked awful but she made them look good. They don't mind.
no girl go to sit back and get pampered lay ur head back and let them do all the work............. now if there are thick like u say they are u may wanna let them use a razor instead of wax cause it gonna hurt and ur gonna have red skin around ur brows 4 2 days
No. Leave them as they are and let the waxer take care of it. That's what they're getting paid to do. Plus, if you take too much off, they won't have anything to work with.
I don't normally do anything before I go have mine waxed. Kinda like why would you give yourself a haircut before going to get one. Hope this helps and have a great weekend.
no, they should definitely do that for you.

you shouldn't have to worry about it when you're paying them.

they should pluck alittle for you first and then wax to perfect them.
The beauty salons usually clean your eyebrows before they start the procedure.
no you dont need to clean them up before you go but try to go atleast every 3 to 5 weeks to keep them groomed.

    help me

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080801041848AAPAmYU%26amp;r=w
i dont think its really necessary... if u do though, just pluck the stray hairs and dooonnnttttt go neaar the actual brows as this may interfere with the shape
why would you clean them up if your going to have someone do them for you? just leave them alone and let the hair dresser do your brows.
if your going to get them waxed don't clean them up because they will do everything to fix them for you. just let them do their job!
    no.

    they do it.

    they wax and trim.

so you don't have to do anything.
Nope, they won't. If you go in, they'll clean them up for you before you start,a nd then they wax.

    :]
nawh let them do it cuz its there job to clean up ur brows so let them do it and if really self conscious just be like umm i didnt now what to do so will ya help
No, that is what the wax does. The person waxing you will clean them up.
No, there's no point in hurting yourself twice in one hour.
No it doesn't matter. You don't have to do anything to them.
    nope, go as you are
no, that's a waste of time. it's their job to fix up your eye brows
Uh no they should do that for you
    no, thats their job.
nah, they'll take care of it.
    nope
No dont bother, they'll do it for u.
no i wouldn't worry about it. thats what you are paying them for.
well it couldn't hurt u don't need to but y not
no u mite mess it up let them do it

  • How often should i get my eyebrows waxed ???

everytime your eyesbrows start to get thick again. i asked my mom who is a beautician and she said 3 to 4 weeks depending on the thickness of the hair. How often should i get my eyebrows waxed ???
whenever you want tooHow often should i get my eyebrows waxed ???
When you can't take them anymore.
when you start to see them growing in...
About every three to six months is nice, just to keep the proper shape of your brow. Obviously you have to maintain that shape in between waxings. Brows grow overnight!
when ever you think they need it
instead of doing that i think you should pluck your eyebrows every two days...

because is easier and your eyebrow would always stay the same good shape, and they won't be diffrent every time u wx them...so as soon as you see a little hair just pluck it, which is every 1 days

personally i don't wax my eyebrows because i think you can't make a refined shape for your face...kinda weird but i use the little square blades...but my eyebrows look perfect...

idk i say pluck or wax, don't do what i do is dangerous

but like i said if u wanna maintian your eyebrows clean all the time pluck them every time u see ur hair growing back
    every 20 days
Get them done weekly. If that is too costly, you can get them done bi monthy and just tweeze the new ones yourself to touch them up. If you do that you need a pair of precision tweezers.

But personally I go in weekly for the full treatment, pedicure, manicure, and waxing. I find that after a week or more the brows start looking unkempt.

But I keep my brows fairly thin. The thinner you get them done the sooner you have to get them re waxed. if you are just getting them shaped then you won't have to go so often.

For my eyebrows i really want a natural looking shape what would be better threading or waxing??

    i really like this shape

    http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=6g2of3o

so would waxing or threading give a better shape like this? i really want my eyebrows to still be thick looking not too thin.

also which one is less painful??

    thanks!!

oh this is my first time too!For my eyebrows i really want a natural looking shape what would be better threading or waxing??
Have someone wax them for you at the mall in one of those nail salons. They do a great job and will give you a shape that fits your face and not someone elses. They also won't make a mistake like you might if you haven't done it before. Also, if someone else does it for you it will also not hurt as bad because you won't be doing it yourself. For my eyebrows i really want a natural looking shape what would be better threading or waxing??
wax is always the way to go! {=]
    waxing
    get your eyebrows waxed.

dont just pick a shape of eyebrow cause you think its cute.it might not work with your face shape or eyebrow shape.let the professionals help you determine what will fit you.i suggest going to a salon and spending $30-40 to get the perfect brow and then you can goto a smaller place to keep the shape and pay like $10

i goto gene juarez - they charge $33 for women and $23 for teens later for getting rid of strays the local nail shop does my brows for $7

or you can tweeze after you get the initial shape down -for the low low price of nothing!
i think waxing would make it easier to get that shape! i have only had my waxed once and it hurts if they do it slow! it can b the same with a bandaide! when u take it off, u have to do it fast or it will hurt in sum places cuz it pulls out ur hair. u just have to do it fast and it will b ovr!!! and it looks good afterwords!! hope this helps!
definitely waxing. P.S let someone who knows what they are doing shape your eyebrows.
    Waxing deffinetly looks more natural.
dont thread! it hurts soooo much!

i threaded like 5 times and i teered up ery time!

    wax!

    :][:
Must be my ignorance, but if you want them to look natural.. leave then natural...

How do I make a 'do it yourself' wax for my face and eyebrows?

don't know need help on that too...answer people!!!How do I make a 'do it yourself' wax for my face and eyebrows?
To make a basic hair wax at home, you will need the mentioned ingredients 鈥?half a lemon, half a cup of honey and a half a cup of sugar. Squeeze the lemon into the honey sugar solution and stir it. Then heat it in the microwave for several minutes, but be careful not to make it too hot. Five minutes of heat should be enough.

Apply the solution onto the desired area and then rip it off with the help of cloth or cotton sticks. This is a painful procedure so perform a patch test first. How do I make a 'do it yourself' wax for my face and eyebrows?
go to the store and get shapers they're only like 50 cents and they already come in the shape you want you just put wax above it and for your upper lip i use bleach it's so easy and you don't have a big red mark after it's done you put it on wait 5 min and then use a napkin to wipe off the hair and the bleach
    But one at Walgreens.

    Its like 3 dollars.

How long does it take for eyebrows to grow back after being waxed off?

I went to a party, got very drunk and had my eyebrows waxed completely off. The brow is as smooth as a baby's bum! How long will I have to go without eyebrows? I am a bloke as well.....=(How long does it take for eyebrows to grow back after being waxed off?
    Approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

    Sorry buddy.

%26lt;3How long does it take for eyebrows to grow back after being waxed off?
It really depends. I was a victim of over-plucking and the one grew back really fast and the other one took quite a few weeks. For now use a brow corrector and draw on your eyebrows.
hehehhe wowwwww you got really drunk then!!! when you get older thats what you'll remeber, all the crazy stuff that you did. depends on your life of hair growth but normally it would take up to 3 weeks or so!!!!

    good luck:)
6 weeks for them to completly grow back from the way they were before
    lmao.. sorry. um 4-6 weeks

until then get a makeup color that looks good and draw them on
about 1 day if you use rogain. ha ha

I have alot of eyebrow hair, and I wanna get it waxed but Im embarrised they might say ..?

Well first of all Im 12. I wanna get them waxed but my parents say not until im 15. I CANT wait that long. I only wax the middle but I wanna wax the rest cuz its thick big and dark! And everyones Teasing me. How can i convince my mom? and Im embarrised they might say i have alot of hair IF i get them waxed.I have alot of eyebrow hair, and I wanna get it waxed but Im embarrised they might say ..?
I started tweezing when I was your age. I've never had my brows waxed. My natural eyebrow are huge and black but I tweeze them into such a nice shape that when I go to a hair salon I get comments and they ask me where I get them waxed. Plucking is painful but you get used to it after a while and it stops hurting. You can find tips for shaping your brows with tweezers online. It might be rough at first but you'll get it down. This is a good option for you because it doesn't cost money and you can do it yourself. Your mom won't even notice you're doing it if you start little by little. That's what I did.

If you do have to go in and get them waxed...don't worry about what they are going to say. You don't have anything they haven't seen before. TRUST ME. It's there job they see it all day long! Everyone who comes into get them waxed has been crazy brows...that's why they go in there. :-)I have alot of eyebrow hair, and I wanna get it waxed but Im embarrised they might say ..?
I agree with your mom that you should wait, but I can understand that some kids can be really mean and annoying.

If not wax, then you can dye them to a lighter color, so they are not as noticeable. Or you can buy one of those eyebrow shavers to shave off the hair as a temporary solution. Then as they start growing back out again, you can tweak them (it's easier to tweak them if they are shorter).

And don't worry about being embarrassed about having a lot of hair when you get it waxed. They are professionals who deal with thick eyebrows all the time.
they're not going to say anything because they don't want to be rude to clients. tell your mom that it's lowering your self esteem and you aren't as confident with yourself as you'd like to be because of your eyebrows. also tell her that eyebrows make really define your face and that's why you want to get them waxed so they have some sort of shape to them.

but you really have to acknowledge stuff. like if you have big eyebrows and somebody says you have big eyebrows, don't deny it because it's true.
I got my first eyebrow wax when I was twelve. I thought the person waxing my eyebrows would make fun of me too, but I've actually gotten nothing but compliments from them. I miss having thick eyebrows, since there's so much hair to work with you can give it a really nice shape without overdoing it and you don't have to draw on your eyebrows with a pencil.
I used to have thick eyebrows until I got them waxed and now their kind of thin. Tell your parents that everyone is teasing you about it and they should listen because not many parents would want their daughter getting teased. You could always just pluck them a little bit though just to make them a little better but it wouldn't look like a drastic change.
I started getting my eyebrows waxed when i was probably around 13. If they are really that bad then try to persude your parents that you won't get them waxed too thinly (cos it can look chavvy) and maybe offer to pay for it yourself? I get mine done every couple of weeks but i'm 16, so every month or so will be fine. If you don't want people to tease you even if you get them done, tell the person waxing them about this and they will do them so they are not too thick. Hope this helps!
Ohh, wow. I'm sorry to hear that.

    :(

Just talk to your mom, honestly.

Tell her what people say. (Maybe exxaggerate it abit.)

Or next time go get your hair done and get your eyebrows waxed without her knowinh.

Maybe they will see how good it looks and regret not letting you in the first place.

ALSO. Maybe try a do it yourself wax kit?

    You can pluck?

    Threaten to shave your eyebrows?

Umm. As for worrying what people say.

Don't worry about, these people get paid to do it.

I'm SURE they have seen worst cases.

    Hoped I helped.
My brows were the same way.. I just went with my friends and got them waxed for the first time when I was in 6th grade and my mom wasn't mad or anything. She was glad i got them done lol . Idk, just bug them enough until they give in lol thats what I usually do with my parents when it comes to anything. Good luck!

PS- they wont say anything about your brows when you get them waxed. If they do, they are rude people. I'm sure you are a very pretty girl either way :)
I had very thick eyebrow as well and was embarrassed to go and get them done. But this is your face and you should feel good about yourself. Just go and get them done. Even if they say anything (which they shouldn't) you don't have to go back there any more. My mum didn't want to let me either but I just told her about how I was feeling and told her that she should try to understand me.
I don't know but maybe you should explain to her that you are looking to do it because your classmates are teasing you and making you self-concense about it. Her concerns might be that her 12 year old daughter is trying to look sexy, which bothers her. Focus on your reasons why versus what you want.
Hey, don't worry. I had that problem too. Fortunately, my mom let me at your age. Tell her about the kids teasing you. (cry if you have to or can, it always works) And anyway, at least you don't have the problem the other way. You could have to little of eyebrows.

    Answer mine?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
don't get them waxed, pluck them! :D

here's an article on how if you don't have any experience... (:

    http://www.freebeautytips.org/eyebrow-ca鈥?/a>

it might hurt a TINY bit the first few times you do it, but you will get used to it and it will be worth it. Good luck.! :D
use tweezers, it may hurt a little more, but beauty is pain right? I'm 12 and i got mine waxed when I was 10. It's really not a big deal. And dont worry about what they say, it doesnt matter. If u get to have them waxed u should b thankful
If you go get them waxed at a place, then they won't say that.

Plus, your a human being. There shouldn't be a reason to be embarrassed .

    Everyone has hair, it's normal.

If you can't wax then pluck them yourself with tweezers.
    aw :(

Just get some tweezers and do it yourself until you can get them done professionally. You shouldn't have to get teased about something like that everyday.
1.) you should get them threaded! its way better!

2.) But you should just tell your parents that it makes you self consious because everyone tesases you

3.) if that doesnt work just pluck a little yourself
instead of going somewhere, you can have your mom buy you a waxing kit and she can wax your eyebrows for you.
Tell your mom the reason why u want 2 get them waxed. don't worry if u do get them waxed they won't make fun of u, i've gotten mine done and i was ur age 2 so don't worry.
buy a waxing kit. explain to ur mom why u need it done. but anyway, it really doesn't matter wut u look like, though im sure ur beautiful
Well, if their teasing u, tell ur mom, she might understand.

...dont b embarraased if they tel u something cuz they wont
Get some tweezers and pluck them yourself :)
do them yourselves, like pluck them .. then they cant make you stop cause itll grow back thicker

Is best to get your eyebrows wax then have electrolysis, i am transtion from male to female?
Depends on what you want. If you want permanence... go for electrolysis. As far as I know waxing is NOT permanent. But even if you do go with electro it will take many sessions to get the desired results. I used electro to thin by eyebrows a bit. I didn't want a pencil thin look, I just wanted them to look somewhat more like they should have. The most important area to clear is towards the center, you don't want any resemblance to ';unibrow'; :blech: The electrologist will work from the middle and work out. A treatment doesn't take long, but it does sting a bit. However, if you've had electro before it's not that bad. And like I said it'll take a lot of weekly sessions at first to obtain the look you want. Then you start spacing out the sessions until you don't need them anymore.

    Hope this helps.
Electrolysis is permanent waxing is not permanent even if it is better than plucking your eyebrows.
I dont even know what electrolysis but it dont sound too healthy lol,
